Difference between Google Home, Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Look, Tap and Bose

Difference between Echo series and non-Echo Alexa activated series

Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot, Amazon Echo Look are same lineup series. Amazon Dot and Amazon Tap are separate series and are not the part of the Echo series. In the Echo series, you can activate them by saying “Alexa activate” but in case of the non-Echo Amazon devices like Amazon Tap, you have to press a button to activate them (that’s why it is called as Alexa enabled instead of an echo device). After activating the device, you can ask your question and it will reply you.

Advantage of each device over the other

The Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot has the rotating head for sound control. In case of Amazon Tap, it has buttons. Apart from the size and appearances, these devices also has other difference. All the below devices can play audio input through the bluetooth. All Amazon devices will give you the same answer, plays music, alarm and same internal functions. Let’s see difference below.

Google Home

Google Home answers even the follow up questions but Amazon devices fails it mostly. Example: If you ask “Ok Google, when was the Spiderman I released?” it answers. If you ask the next question “Who played in it?”, the Google Home answers it too. It relates the second question with the first question. If you ask the same to Amazon Echo, it answers to the first question and replays “hmm I don’t know but you can take a look at the Bing link I added in the Alexa app” for the second question.

If you ask Alexa, “How long it takes to reach Walmart in Uniondale, New York?” It will reply you “I don’t know how long it will take but I found the Walmart in Uniondale, New York. It’s eight point four miles away on Jerusalem Ave road”. But for the same question, Google Home will reply you “On your way to Walmart, the traffic is light as usual. It is thirty minutes by car”. It mentions the time which will take for you to reach the place.

Amazon Echo Dot

If you ask Alexa “Alexa remind me to buy Lays chips, tomorrow at 5 o’clock”, it will reply you “I added buy Lays chips tomorrow at 5 o’clock to your to-do list” and if you ask the same question to Google, it will reply you “Sorry, I can’t set reminders”. So Alexa is best for setting remainders which Google Home doesn’t have. Amazon works to control most of the lights, smart switches, life x and home appliances by voice commands but Google Home works only with limited number of devices such as next, Samsung smart devices.

Amazon echo dot’s sound is low when compared to the others but there is an ‘auxiliary cable-out’ which is used to put sound out of the device. Example: You can play its sound on an another speaker. But not vise versa. Example:  You can’t play the sound from an external speaker in the Amazon Echo Dot through auxiliary cable. This is because the speakers on the Echo Dot is not so good.

Amazon Echo Dot is only the device which has Bluetooth-Out feature. Example: If the Echo Dot is on your next room and you have another bluetooth speaker on your current room then you can tell it “Echo, connect to my bluetooth speaker system”, then the audio will be played on the bluetooth speaker instead of the Echo Dot.

Amazon Tap

The Tap is a wireless device unlike the others, so you can take it anywhere. This has an ‘auxiliary cable-in’ port which you can use to input sound into the device from an external device (just opposite to the Echo Dot) and no option for playing sound in an external speaker from the Tap. This is because of the better speakers on the Tap when comparing to the Echo Dot.

Tap also has the wireless charging facility using a dock and on the top of the Tap, there are volume up/down, pause, fast forward buttons. On the cylindrical side, there is an usb port for charging, bluetooth button and power button.  Remember, Amazon Tap is not an echo device so you can’t activate it by calling it from distance, instead you have to press the button.

Amazon Echo

This was the first introduced Amazon smart speaker device and the biggest in size. There are no ‘auxiliary cable-in’ port or ‘auxiliary cable-out’ port in it. So, the only possible way to put sound into this, is by the bluetooth.

Amazon Echo Look

The Echo Look has a inbuilt camera which can take HD images with options to blur the background, live view etcetera. So you can ask it to take pictures or video of you. You can also ask suggestion on dressing and it can answer you by its machine learning capacities.
