What is ATM channel, POS channel, CNP channel type in SBI? [Guide]

Do you want to know what is “ATM channel”, “POS channel”, “CNP channel” type in SBI net banking? Here you can know what these terms mean in the State Bank of India net banking.

Your ATM Debit card can be used in a number of locations. Example: In an ATM machine, restaurants, local shops & retail stores and online shopping websites.

You can set permissions on where your ATM card can be used through the net banking. Under the e-Services > ATM card services > Channel type: There are 3 different channels. Let’s see what are these channels means.

ATM Channel: If you disable the ATM channel then you can no longer withdraw money from ATM machines using your card. ATM channel stands for “Automated Teller Machine channel”.

POS Channel: If you disable the POS channel then your card won’t work in local shops, restaurants, and retail stores. POS channel stands for “Point of Sale channel”.

CNP Channel: If you disable the CNP channel then you can’t use your card for online transactions on shopping sites such as Amazon, Flipkart, eBay, Snapdeal etc., CNP channel stands for “Card not present transaction channel”.

You can change the channel type of your card through net banking anytime. You will receive OTP everytime you change the channel type.

You can also limit the amount of ATM, POS and CNP transactions. You can also change usage type of your card as Domestic usage or as International usage

We are advising you to disable the channels which you won’t use. So, you can add more security to your account and your account will be more secure even if there is any breach.
