  • The parcel or courier has just booked and it will take some time to show the tracking details.
  • You may have entered the wrong tracking code. So, double check the tracking code.
  • 60 days may have passed since the courier has booked.

The above reasons are also applicable to the error message ‘unable to get consignment details please try after sometime’.

Call India Post (Speed Post)

You can call the toll free customer care number of India Post (Speed Post).

Track the order via SMS

Free SMS alerts will be sent to the mobile number registered during the booking but in some cases, the SMS won’t be sent.

If you don’t get any message then you can track manually by sending an SMS. The SMS charges will be applicable. Below you can see the format in which you should send the SMS.

  • SMS POST TRACK SPEED POST NUMBER to 166 or to 51969 to know the status of Speed Post article
  • SMS POST TRACK PNR NUMBER to 166 or to 51969 to know the status of e-Money order.


  • The SMS is case sensitive. Use all CAPITAL LETTERS only.
  • The status will be available for items booked up to 60 days from the date of SMS inquiry.
  • The service is available from all the service providers in the Country.
  • Rates charged by the Service provider are applicable.

Where to find your Tracking Number?

If you booked the article online, the tracking number will be intimated over mail once it is inducted at Post Office counter.

For walk-in customers at Post office, the receipt provided at the counter will have the tracking number.

If you still can’t track your order then wait some time or call the India Post office on where the order has booked.
