FedEx is an international courier company operates in most parts of the world from the USA to Japan. They handle over million of parcels every day. Explanation: In this case, the FedEx driver actually didn’t make an attempt to deliver your package for some reason. There are various reasons for it. Let us see all of the below in the points.

  • Bad weather – Heavy snowfall, tornado, storm or flood on the way. This interrupts the delivery.
  • The delivery vehicle got some problems – The truck met with an accident, engine failure, flat tire or ran out of fuel.
  • The driver got some problem – FedEx delivers packages with the help of the human workforce and not with robots (not yet). They may become ill or sick such as fever, stomach ache etcetera.
  • The driver made some mistakes or lazy – A package moves from vehicle to vehicle during the transit. Sometimes the driver maybe slow, hit the end of his shift and packed it for the next day or moves the package to a wrong location or truck. Sometimes misses the next truck. This happens when handling millions of shipments per day.

If you want faster delivery then you can try the overnight or air shipping with FedEx than the economic shipping.

FedEx policy: FedEx will not hand over parcels which have not had at least 1 failed delivery attempt. You can call FedEx customer care in advance and get your package at FedEx center if you had a missed delivery. But usually, FedEx try to deliver your package for 3 times. If all fails, it will be at the nearby FedEx center and you can receive it only by visiting there with a valid ID and a door tag if they had left on your home.

As per now, the ‘FedEx Ground’ delivers packages from Monday to Friday and doesn’t deliver orders on Saturdays and Sundays, though you can pay extra for delivering on Saturdays. The ‘FedEx Home’ deliver orders on Saturdays. The ‘FedEx Home’ delivers parcels from Tuesday to Saturday. They can make changes to their policies, and terms and conditions anytime.

Please note: FedEx and the FedEx Ground are two different entities. FedEx even don’t know the name and contact details of the drivers of FedEx Ground.

Best practice: Always try to provide your number with the delivery address, so the driver can call you in case he can’t find your home.
